We will send you regular updates letting you know of any opportunities e.g. venues needing bands, competitions etc. 6. Send demos to radio stations 7. Email radio djs to get your music played 8. We have many contacts that you can use including magazines who will do reviews etc. A street team is a great way to increase a band's recognition to music industry professionals as well as potential fans. Flying Pixie Promotions & Music Managment
Welcome to Flying Pixie Promotions & Music Management. I was thrust into the music industry quite by accident while assisting some friends of mine to gain a gig North of the Border! Further gigs ensued, along with positive feedback and my enthusiasm for taking things further grew. I started working with the IVAN DREVER BAND early in 2009 and had a stint at managing the band through 2009/10 The content of my work involves booking and promoting gigs, press and media (radio etc) involvement, working with agencies and all the nitty gritty work which leaves the band free to do what they do best - write and perform their music to the world. I am the administration behind the talent I guess... I have also been involved with the national competition Live & Unsigned / Open Mic (see links page) since early 2009. I will endeavour to help where I can with bands/artistes not on my roster and if I am not in a position to fulfill a job, I will be honest and let you know, but I will always reply to enquiries.

goEvents
Running from the Shetland Islands in the north to the Mull of Kintyre in the south, the Highlands and Islands of Scotland includes some of the most remote and beautiful parts of Scotland. Successive generations of creative talent have ensured that the area's impact on the world stage has been remarkable. Today a new wave of artists and innovators is carrying on their legacy. The modern Highlands and islands have been shaped by a unique blend of cultures over the last 2,000 years. In the Northern Isles (Shetland and Orkney), the influence of Norse ancestors is still to be found in the arts and dialect, while the Gaelic culture is evident throughout much of the mainland and Western Isles. The eastern part of the region has many local traditions that have grown from the Scots language. To this cultural mix add everything from MTV to digital downloads, and you have a wealth of music that ranges from the most traditional to the most contemporary, and which above all, is distinctive, exciting and alive. goEVENTS was set up to support the work of Highlands and Islands Labels (HAIL) as it continues to develop the music industry of the Highlands and Islands, and to find ways of showcasing the most exciting talent coming out of the area, regardless of genre. Our annual flagship event is goNORTH, which over the last three years has featured over 180 acts in more than 200 performances. 157 acts from 14 nations have played, but with the majority coming from Scotland. These showcases have created an opportunity to develop new partnerships both nationally and internationally. Of the 157 showcased acts, to the best of our knowledge15 have gone on from goNORTH to sign some kind of record deal. Interest is also being shown in a number of others. The region has great talent and an excellent track record, and is looking for project partners and networking opportunities both at home and internationally. If you would like to know more about goEVENTS or HAIL and their work, or just to find out a bit more about the music in the Highlands and Islands, please get in touch.

KINGSONIC PROMOTIONS
Our 'Stepping Stone' A&R Showcases are designed for a 'foot in the door' opportunity for up and coming central-belt Scottish bands to play at 'The Cathouse', 'G2', 'The Arches' & 'The Garage' in Glasgow, some of Scotland's most renowned live music venues, and to gain A&R exposure within the music industry.

The 'Stepping Stone' showcases were set up between 'Kingsonic Promotions' and 'Mandragora Productions' primarily as a showcase event for Scottish Central-belt unsigned acts to perform to A&R personnel but to also introduce themselves to new and wider audiences in a welcoming, professional and hassle-free environment.

'Kingsonic Promotions' also provide help in designing press packs, promote bands who embark on U.K. tours and give free advice to all in need. All this and the fact that 'Kingsonic Promotions' also provide a full quality backline for the 'Stepping Stone' showcases at 'The Cathouse' in Glasgow reaffirms that 'Kingsonic Promotions' provide an unrivalled level of professional service for un-signed acts in Central Scotland.

The 'Stepping Stone' showcases also allow unsigned acts, who provide larger audiences, the opportunity to be considered for supports for touring bands and has been responsible for gaining several major support slots with touring acts since 1999.

'Kingsonic Promotions' also have an excellent stage-management team, who are hired regularly to stage manage events all over central Scotland and can cater for 1 man with an acoustic guitar to multiple bills festival-style. 'Kingsonic's reputation in this field is un-questionable providing a fast, professional and friendly service like our showcases.

Misfits
Misfits is Edinburgh's newest alternative night, playing a mash of Indie/Electro/Punk/Rock. Misfits aims to be more than just your run-of-the-mill alternative night, it intends to build a community of clubbers, united across the splintered genres in a common appreciation of all that is alt/indie. At the heart of it is the website - www.misfitsonline.co.uk - which allows the clubbers to network online, interact on the forums, and log requests for the DJ to track down in advance of the next night. We don't do musical elitism, believing instead that the clubbers should mould the night as much as the DJ - requests made online, as well as on the night, guide us on our way to achieving this. It's a social experiment of sorts, or clubbing for the myspace generation if you prefer. You could of course just view it as an excuse to go out and mingle with good looking folk whilst listening to a soundtrack that you've influenced.

Mungos Hifi
It all began with some reggae records, some old speakers we found in a skip and a dream...Scouring the city for speakers, drivers, amps, and with many incredible pieces of luck/guidance we had enough to help with the J18 protest - after that we were hooked. We made a base in an old man's pub which has since become one of the foremost venues in the town for up and coming club nights, and two and a half years later we are still there every month.

Red Amp
Starting in 2004 at NGC (North Glasgow College) the band red amp was formed. Consisting then of 4 members Adele - Drums, Mark - Guitar, Micheal - Bass and Jon - Guitar and Vocals. Through playing small gigs in Glasgow they slowly started to build a small fan base. By mid 2005 the band had now become popular in the city with collection of catchy songs this also saw them switching to a three piece for a much tighter sound. By the end of 2005 and start of 2006 came one of the bands biggest triumps in finishing first in the qualifying rounds and semi final's to reach the finals of Fury Murry's King of the bands in glasgow. Recently there has been a transformation in the Red Amp set up, With Jon McElroy still performing as an accoustic solo artist he put together a set for recording at Clyde Music for the Red Amp songs with help from Darren Findlay on drums and Andrew Chisholm on bass and revive the Red Amp dream. Come check out red amp at a gig near you very soon

The Queen Margaret Union is one of two Students’ Unions at the University of Glasgow. It was founded in 1890 and, until 1979, it served as the Student Union for women, while our neighbours, the Glasgow University Union, served men. Since then the QMU has been open to students of both sexes, but both Unions have remained entirely separate. The QMU provides a broad range of services. Feeding thousands of students everyday, as well as being one of Glasgow’s best student clubs and a venue for live bands.

Your Sound @ King Tuts
King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut are launching Your Sound, which is dedicated to unsigned Scottish artists, bands and DJs of all musical genres, allowing them to establish and develop a fan base, and gain exposure within the music industry by having their recorded material played at Scotland’s favourite live venue. Artists will submit their music, and then King Tut’s and DF Concerts promoter staff will select tracks to form the soundtrack for the monthly Your Sound event. Your Sound will take place on the first Sunday of every month from 4pm – 8pm downstairs in King Tut’s Bar, and special guest DJs will also play a selection of their own favourite tunes. Each month, a Your Sound artist of the month will be chosen, earning themselves a dedicated page on the Your Sound website, a feature on www.gigsinscotland.com and www.kingtuts.co.uk, their material played at gigs taking place in the venue and their CD added to the legendary King Tut’s jukebox! As if this wasn’t enough, each artist of the month will play live at the Your Sound end of year showcase at King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut, and will be included on a “Best of Your Sound” yearly CD, which we will distribute to our selected worldwide music industry contacts. Finally, a prominent winner’s shrine will allow the artist of the month to promote new material, artist information and forthcoming gigs - all to be seen by the eclectic gig-going population that frequent King Tut’s on a daily basis! King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut has twice been voted Radio 1’s best launch pad venue, best UK venue and has hosted the first ever Scottish performances from Radiohead, The Strokes, Kasabian and Bloc Party. It is also renowned as being the place where Oasis was discovered in the 90’s. A gig in King Tut’s can be the pivotal point in a band’s career and Your Sound will open up this opportunity to many more musicians on the Scottish music circuit. Says Dave McGeachan, promoter at DF Concerts: “We’ve always had a wealth of unsigned talent performing at King Tut’s that we’ve supported throughout the years. With the standard of Scottish bands at an all time high we’ve been trying to think of new ways to give bands more opportunities". “The first Sunday of the month will be a chance for music lovers to come and discover their favourite new band, for musicians to share their music, to network, and to gain more exposure within the music industry”. Artists, bands and DJs should go on to www.kingtuts.co.uk to download an application form, and submit this along with 2 copies of their CD, plus their biography and photographs on CD-R, from Monday 3rd October, to: YOUR SOUND King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut 272a St Vincent Street Glasgow G2 5RL The first Your Sound event will take place on Sunday 6th November from 4pm – 8pm. Entry is free and music will be courtesy of special guests and Your Sound DJ’s, playing the best of new Scottish music.
