South by South West (SxSW) is one of the world’s largest music industry conference and festivals and takes place every year in Ausin Texas. In 2009 there were over 13,000 industry delegates seeing 2,000 bands and artists on 88 stages over five days.
Training events
The Scottish Arts Council and Cultural Enterprise Office will be holding two training events for artists, managers and others wishing to showcase at the SxSW Music Conference in Austin Texas in March 2010.
The events will give bands, artists and managers the opportunity to hear from artists and managers who have showcased at the event in the past; to meet staff from SxSW and hear how you go about applying; to understand the process for securing US visas; to find out about the ‘Showcasing Scotland’ events coordinated by the Scottish Arts Council and the funding which is available to support bands.

Application process
The South by South West Music Conference & Festival 2010 (SxSW 2010) is now open for delegate registrations and band and artist submissions.
SxSW 2010 will have one single deadline for domestic and international submissions, which is 6 November 2009.

In 2010 the Scottish Arts Council will once again be supporting a handful of Scottish acts to showcase their talents at SxSW in Austin, Texas. We will be coordinating the Showcasing Scotland events and presence in Austin.
